Roll-Off Driver with Heavy Equipment Experience

JOB Summary

Roll-Off Drivers safely operates a heavy-duty truck and is responsible for preparing, loading, and transporting open top and compactor containers to disposal sites, transfer stations, recycling facilities and customer locations. Roll-Off Drivers will navigate driveways, alleyways, lots, high traffic roadways and may operate in tight overhead environments while on industrial routes. Highly skilled backing maneuvers are essential, to successfully perform this job.  This position may also have heavy equipment operation as part of the duties.

Heavy Equipment Operator  will operate machines at a construction & demolition (C&D) waste processing facility where the equipment operators are required to assist in the unloading of inbound vehicles, stacking, storing and feeding of C&D material, and the loading of outbound vehicles with recycled materials and residual waste.  Performs preventative and minor corrective maintenance of equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operates vehicle in accordance with ReEnergy Safety Rules, OSHA (Occupational and Safety Health Act) and DOT (Department of Transportation) requirements as well as all local, municipal, state, and federal laws.
  • Performs pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned equipment and documents checks on standard DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Report.).
  • Immediately reports any unsafe situations or service related issues to Manager or Dispatch.
  • Attends and participates in all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings required by ReEnergy and/or Manager.
  • Works closely with Managers to improve route efficiencies and identify best practices.
  • Notifies Manager of any incidents, accidents, injures, or property damage.
  • Notifies Manager or Dispatch of service interruptions, including blocked containers, closed lots, street, alleyways or potential safety hazards.
    Communicates customer requests to Manager or Dispatch.
  • Identifies and reports all containers in need of repair or replacement.
  • Completes and submits customer tickets as required.
  • Positions and / or returns container on the customer’s property in a manner that ensures lids and or doors are properly replaced, and do not block driveway entrances or traffic.
  • Follows route assignments as directed and completes end of day documentation and the checkout process.
  • Performs all duties as scheduled by Manager or Dispatch and assisting other drivers as directed to meet customer needs.
  • Operate heavy equipment.
  • Management and stockpiling of all unprocessed and processed materials.
  • Site maintenance and construction including ditching for erosion control and surface water collection, etc.
  • Performing maintenance and light repair of company-owned or leased mobile equipment.
  • Keeping accurate PM logs on mobile equipment and turning them in to the Facility Manager on a regular basis.
  • Maintain a safe work environment through job planning, housekeeping and identification and correction of hazards.
  • Perform duties in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
  • Other duties as designated by the Facility Manager.


  • Experience: 1 – 3 years of previous experience operating a vehicle requiring a CDL or equivalent military driving within the last 7 years.
  • Commercial Driver’s License B (CDL).
  •  The CDL is a requirement; therefore, an applicant must be 21 years of age.
  • Hold a current Class A or B Commercial ‘Driver’s License with an air brake endorsement.
  • Acceptable driving record required.
  • Heavy Equipment Experience
  • Heavy Equipment License – Hoisting Engineer 2A (or 2C) Required
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Successfully complete pre-employment DOT drug screen, physical, and background check, which will include previous employment check, criminal history and motor vehicle record review.
  • Prior experience in a fast pace environment a must.
  • Experience working on construction sites or with heavy equipment a plus.
