Business/Financial Analyst

JOB SUMMARY: Provides financial and business support and analysis to both divisions (ReEnergy Biomass Operations and ReSource Waste Services) of the company.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following duties satisfactorily:

• Prepares monthly and annual financial reporting packages for all business units with appropriate commentary for upper management and external parties, as necessary.
• Tracks & monitors key financial performance measures for all business units.
• Reports, analyzes, and interprets financial and operating data. Such reporting, analysis and interpretation may include cost analysis, market niche reporting, profitability analysis, performance assessments, pricing analysis, cost-volume-profit analysis and any other ad-hoc analysis of interest to management.
• Supports cost optimization initiatives of RWS including the hauling/collections division, the various processing facilities and the transportation and disposal costs of various recovered materials and products.
• Conducts pricing and profitability analyses.
• Identifies trends and developments in competitive environments and presents findings to senior management
• Assists in the acquisition activities of the businesses including participating in the due diligence efforts, verifying historical financial results and preparing the financial pro-forma models.
• Leads the annual budget process and quarterly forecast process for all business units.
• Maintains, enhances or develops budgeting and forecasting models or other automated tools for all business units.
• Performs multi-year financial projections/outlooks on an ad hoc basis.
• Assists the corporate accounting function with matters related to the annual audit, contract audits and income tax matters, cash forecasting, etc. as required.
• Other assigned tasks as needed

QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree (accredited) in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics or similar area of study is required.

EXPERIENCE: At least 2 to 3years of experience as a financial analyst or in accounting role which included financial analysis and planning responsibilities.

COMPUTER AND OTHER SKILLS: Demonstrated expert level excel and power point skills. Experience with accounting and reporting systems. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated business sense and ability to develop solid relationships with those requesting information (i.e. corporate managers, engineers, facility managers, etc…). Must be able to maintain confidentiality.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Normal setting for this job is office setting. Ability to work independently and collaborate with others. Overnight travel will be required between operating facilities, division/corporate offices and acquisition targets

LOCATION: Metro Boston Area or Capital District Region
